Why Fresh Thinking?

Portrait of Einstein

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

Albert Einstein

Yet how many of us really take the time to work out:

  • How we think, feel and act?

  • What we think, feel and do, and

  • Why we think, feel and do what we do?

I will explore ideas that have the power to help us to think, feel and act differently so that we might solve some of the problems created by our older ways of thinking, feeling and acting.

I have worked in education, management and leadership for 4 decades and have seen how difficult it is for Fresh Thinking to find a foothold against the orthodoxy at a personal level and in organisational culture.

Powerful ideas that can lead us towards economic, social and environmental justice that get ignored as we seemingly prefer to use our old habitual ways of thinking even though they cause us so many problems.

Why Mike Chitty?

Mike Chitty

I am an experienced facilitator, trainer, coach, and consultant who can help you to think differently.

My philosophy is simple: you will only learn what you truly want to learn. That's why I focus on stimulating curiosity and provoking exploration about the direction in which progress lies, whether it's for individuals, teams, organisations, or systems and their relationships.

A biophysics graduate who started his career as a science and outdoor education teacher, Mike worked with children in care labeled as “emotionally and behaviourally disturbed” before spending some life-changing time in The Gambia. He then started working for a range of vocational education and training consultancies before starting his own business, Realise Development, in 2003.

Until March 2018, Mike served as Head of Applied Leadership at the NHS Leadership Academy, where he led a faculty in the design and delivery of leadership development interventions to a wide range of teams and communities in the NHS, social care, and arms-length bodies. Mike is still an associate of the NHS Leadership Academy and is currently working on Leadership Development for Carbon Net Zero in the NHS.

I write about big ideas, not to explain them, but to help us live within their mystery. Rooted in care and connection, my work invites listening, belonging, and a gentler way of being in a complex world.
